RAM Heritage Day 2020

We are celebrated Heritage Day on 24 Sept 2020 in Montagu surrounds with traditional Cape Malay Curry, Koeksisters and lots of love.

We fed so many people we lost count. When we took a photo of a few of the pots they were already half empty. In mix of things we forgot to take a photo of the 100's of most lovely Malay Koeksisters. I give it a capital K as it's part of our heritage celebrations today. Grateful for this day and all the loads of people who helped Dulcie Lawrence at Sakhikamva ECD at Mandela Square in Montagu. The Malay Chicken curry was so tasty and delicious.

For the children we chose a milder curry made with boneless chicken portions. All received so well.

We had beautiful traditional dancers as well as the most gorgeous singers.

Thank you Dulcie and team for a lovely day.

2 Vehicles, 2 Deep Freezers filled to the brim, a trailer loaded with pockets of potatoes and food parcels, a truck collecting ex CT. We had a big Heritage Day feeding event and a thank you braai plus loads of food parcels.

So many to thank for the success of the past 5 days.

Dad's Day 2020

We celebrate Women's day 2020 by helping others

We celebrated our rural women for Women's Day Saturday the 8th August 2020 in Montagu.

Assisted by many angels ex CT and our fellow NGO Change Agents South Africa team. We are super excited as we are always grateful.

What a wonderful day we had and enough masks / shields for everyone to attend our event.

We say thank you to so many helping us make this day special. We were blessed beyond our expectations. We put a call out and angels responded.

9th August 2020 in Mandela Square

We also assisted with a Tea for Women at Mandela Square in Montagu. High Tea with the ladies of Mandela Square held by Dulcie Lawrence at the creche Sakhikamva ECD in Montagu.

We also donated 15 blankets for her to distribute among the ladies.

We love working with this women who is also one of our soup kitchens we love supporting. Dulcie Lawrence is one of the women to be reckoned with..her love and passion are infectious.

Montagu Wedding fairytale & home handover

A fairytale day to remember forever. Superproud.

A tragic event is turning into a joyous celebration. When a young man’s house burnt to the ground on the 6th June 2020, his wedding plans seemed impossible. We decided to play cupid... On Thursday 25 June we were part of this fairytale wedding at 16h00 and then after, the hand over of their new Wendy home that has been generously donated by angels, so many helping hands to make this possible. A home handover & a wedding, a first for RAM - Rescue Among Many!

So many thank yous, and more to be added as we run around with limited internet, please know we will add every name that assisted...

See how these 3 NGO's came together to make this day special for this couple who had nothing. A collaboration with Change Agents South Africa & Angels Haven Foundation to give them a new life together without a further struggle. Something for them to build onto. Our Price and his Princess.

Ellen Pakkies Women's Day 2019

Montagu is also plagued by social ills like gender based violence, bullying and drug abuse, like many other parts of our country. To try and change mindsets and create a dialogue around these issues, RAM in association with 1000 Women 1 Voice decided to make a day of it, and screen the movie based on Ellen Pakkies' life story, combined with a talk by Ellen Pakkies herself to bring awareness and to open the conversation about these issues. There were discreet counselling services on site and other spoils to make the day a success.

We are so thankful to our glorious God for blessing this event. Seldom ever seen in Montagu, as the movie started to play, Olin told me to look and see the amazing rainbow gracing the sky outside. What a start to what we know was a huge success of an event. Given that we had started later than planned, God's timing is always right - divine intervention.

Thank you 1000 Women 1 Voice, Tina Thiart, Ellen Pakkies, and Caroline Peters - what a team we were.

Assisted by an amazing team with Mareletta Van Zyl Mundey, the staff of Montagu-Ashton Tourism Association, and Olin Kiewietz & Dorisca M. Kiewietz .

A blessing filled day it was with so many sponsors to make this day possible.

Thank you for the venue, the Ophelia Hall, and Langerberg Municipality without the space, this event would not have been possible.

To cater for our guests, we supplied 500 cold meat sandwiches, dozens of muffins, and 4 humongous pots of soup, as well as  the Shoprite food truck that was made accessible to us - thank you.

Many tears were seen, many truths were told, and many lives affected.

The RAM team and Ellen Pakkies were graciously hosted again by the Montagu Country Hotel, such a huge spoil for us.

Lingelihle Old Age Home Visit

Following the events of the previous day, RAM went on to Lingelihle Old Age Home in Ashton to hand out beautiful pairs of shoes from homechoice.

We received an urgent request for 100 Lt of soup and 30 loaves of bread. Not a problem - soup was made and ready to pack by 10 P.M. we stacked an extra 500 tins of soup to add to the 2000 cups needed.

Check out some of our amazing projects that we implemented for Mandela Day 2019. Thank you to all those who contributed to ensure the day was a success.

We are beyond thankful to Rheinette Oakland, Oakland Dairies, who donated  milk, yogurt, and cheese. We handed over the items at various places; our Early Childhood Development Schools (ECDs), Lingelihle Old Age Home, and the homeless people in Montagu.

A big shout out to Sharon Hunlun and Ruan Hunlan who assisted in the cutting of the 42 kg donated cheese into smaller pieces, so that we were able to share with many families.

We are always so grateful for the wonderful contributions towards the works in our rural areas. Our heartfelt thanks to Herbert Bührer for the 5 rolls of lovely protein. To Johanna Kotze and LHL for their wonderful donation of fruit and vegetables. Our food packages for the homeless were more than filling thanks to the kind sharing hearts of our donors.

We made a lovely macaroni 'n cheese, and sweet delicacies to serve with a fruit salad for our Lingelihle Old Age Home in Zolani, Ashton.

The delicious pot went to Olin Kiewietz, who ensures bush and street people get warm meals. To Sharon Hunlun, who cooks for many elders in Montagu, a Kenwood electronic machine was donated.

We are beyond proud of all you do to assist our support base in Montagu. You are our angels helping us to make a difference serving the homeless in Montagu.

Fransie du Toit Primary School

In honour of Nelson Mandela Day, our colleagues in South Africa took some time out to support the incredible RAM charity.

We had an awesome time spoiling our young learners. Thank you principal Elrico Sylvester for making the necessary arrangements with the parents of these beautiful children.

Many thanks to Imagine Cruising SA and Imagine Holidays for the huge gift of a new fridge, microwave, urn and 7 heaters for the school.

Sakhikamva ECD

To our little children at Sakhikamva ECD; cold meat, yogurt, milk, eggs, sugar, Granola cereal, fish cakes, and vegetables were donated.

The same donation was given to our angel, who serves at a soup kitchen at a home-church. Her identity is to remain anonymous for security reasons. We ask that you continue to donate food, these amazing women do a sterling job in feeding so many children.

New home for deserving youngsters

So many thanks are in order for the assistance we received in helping these two young adults. From sad despair, they received their own beautiful little home through Olin Kiewietz of Change Agents SA.
Going forward, may your life ahead be safe and stress-free. This man is forever helping  RAM as much as we need hands. We are so glad we could help him at last.

Thank you to an anonymous regular volunteer to RAM, who single-handedly got these donations with the greatest support.

We have 16 leads, 13 collars, 6 harnesses, 10 food bowls. That's a whopping 45 items - ONE person! Thank you so much for your love for our rural animals.

Thank you, Lionel's Choice Dog Food for the humongous donation of 459 kg dog food you gifted us. We are incredibly grateful to be part of this wonderful blessing to our animal shelter.

Fransie du Toit Primary trip to Cango Caves

Thank you Imagine Cruising SA & Imagine Holidays for transporting a farm school - Fransie du Toit Primary all the way from Montagu to Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn. Their lives have changed forever, for the better.

Thanks to Shoprite South Africa for the lovely Chicken Mayo sandwiches and bananas, Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages for some cold drinks, and Oakland Dairies for some juice for our children.

The trip was followed by a lovely lunch. No need for words, the smiles, the loving eyes, their sincerity said it all. Were it not for your donations, they would not have experienced such a trip from outside their rural farm surrounds. Thank you for making extended and multiple contributions to make Mandela Day so special.

Youth Day June 2019

WA Rossouw Primary School Sick Room:

Youth Day gifting on the 17th of June 2019 in Montagu - hosted at W.A. Rossouw Primary School. Thank you to Principal Adams and staff for giving us the honor of putting smiles on the faces of the children.

We built and furnished a small sick room for a rural school in Montagu. Every sick child needs a safe place to recover, the distance to go home for these rural kids is vast - often walked by them on foot.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ragmat Baron who entered a Sasol competition on our behalf and won. We are so grateful to have been selected as their charity of choice. To add to the funds we received from Sasol,  John & Helen Cross from the UK donated to assist us in the building of the structure.
